All About Us |
RADA is a loose grouping of English speaking devotees of amateur theatre, dedicated to producing the best possible affordable theatre for members of our community and visitors. |
Our history now spans more than ten years, with many original members featuring regularly on stage and in the director's chair. We perform three times a year with members acting or working behind the scenes, according to the demands of the piece we have chosen. Our productions vary from full length or one act plays to collections of sketches. Our two dozen members also range widely from very experienced, even ex-professional, to novices and first-timers. |
Our comedies have been very popular but we like to surprise our loyal audience with a serious drama from time to time, also much appreciated.
We have been very fortunate to have been consistently made welcome at Mougins School since the very beginning. This has allowed us to rehearse weekly and to prepare and perform in the same place. Our regulars have seen the school gym evolve from an all-purpose hall to a well-equipped performance space. We have developed our skills and our equipment too and regularly use a box set and a sophisticated sound and light system. |
Our audience has remained supportive through success and calamity (notably the power failure for Absurd Person Singular!) and have adapted from traditional format productions to in-the-round, al fresco sets and even put up with changing places between acts. We are delighted when we hear that our most recent production was the "best ever" but are never blasé about our acheivements and keep finding new challenges to push our team to new heights.
